James's Fish

James has been interested in fishing since he could walk.

He is constantly turning sticks, dental floss, old hangers and whatever he can into fishing polls. He hangs his homemade line off the couch, or my bed and waits for fish. Daddy has promised him a fishing poll, many times but it just hasn't happened. A couple weeks ago, James finally got his WISH!

I honestly didn't think he would like it, and would lose interest very quickly, because it's not a toy, and you can't be rough with it, and he probably wouldn't catch any fish most of the time...

Boy! Was I wrong!

My sweet little boy fished for 6 hours in rain, cold, and horrible wind. I sat huddled in the car for about 2 hours and then asked to be taken home with the other kids. Little James stuck it out.

He caught 3 fish in the end, after trying 3 different fishing spots.

He got two sucker fish and a carp, and he was very very excited! He reeled the fish in himself and could even tell when he had a fish on the line.

I am happy we have found something that he LOVES, and I am more than impressed that he stuck with it. :)
He informs me, that NEXT time, He will catch one without a "kissy face." He dreams of catching a cat fish.

March in Review

HEY! What are you looking at?????

Yeah! YOU! What's so exciting?!?

Ohhhhhhh. How cute! There are two, I probably have the same one pictured twice, but you get the idea.

and this is how I feel.................

Lots of rest and relaxation for some.

Lauren and the NEW current love of her life. A stick. It goes everywhere with us.

icky icky icky

James on his new ride, he bought from the thrift store with his 4$ birthday money from Great Grandma. He is learning quick.

I wish I could capture the intense nausea for you. (just for posterity's sake)
Small girl party during conference. I wish these were all my children. I really do. I always wanted a big family. I think it's funny, I told everyone to look. Well...at least two of these kids are well trained to look and give smiles when directed. I wonder why?? ;)
 New Sleeping bags for all!

Oh and Barry brought the kids home a puppy. yeah  THEY love him though, James named him Tiny.

Ellie is officially a rabbit, after bribing her to pull out both of her teeth in one day, I immediately regreted the decision because of the "varmint" like result. Fortunately she thinks it's quite funny. Phew...

Anyway.....

I am not expecting.
I don't do that anymore, but we are hoping for a baby in November. Keep us in your prayers. :)

James turns 4

Born three weeks early at 6 pounds 2 ounces on a Sunday evening in March, I looked into this sweet little baby's eyes and he stole my heart. He's had it ever since!

I love way too many things about James, it's hard to know where to start

I love his dark chocolate eyes, and crazy long eyelashes.

I love that he is sooo very very loving. He's always giving me kisses and snuggles, and wants to be near me, hold my hand.

He makes me love being a mom

James is ALL boy, I love that about him.

James is very creative, he's always making houses for bug, building fishing poles, making cars out of legos, planning adventures for us to go on.

I love how cleaver James is. He will lean in close to me and say. "I will give you a kiss mom if you give me an ice cream cone" then before I can react or saw yes or no, he'll give me a quick kiss on the cheek, and then smile real big.

He always wants to make a deal, a plan, or for me to PROMISE him something. He always is the one to come up with what I promise to do for him.

I love that James will always tell me how he feels. "Mom! I feel so angry inside right now." or "Mom, I am so sad today."

James is stubborn as can be, and can throw a fit like no other, but the next moment he will be giving me hugs and be all sweetness again.

He is quick to forgive.

James tells me he loves me a 100 times a day. James tells me he loves me when we ride in the car. Often, in the middle of the night he will sneak into my room and climb into my bed and wrap his little arms around me, and whisper, "I love you." He tells me he loves me when we're sitting at the table in the middle of dinner, he will whisper he loves me when we're having family prayer. Right after I spank him, he will climb up on my lap and tell me he loves me. When I'm wiping his stinky bum, he will tell me he loves me. One time, I will never forget, he was so very sick, and puking like crazy in the bathtub, he lifted up his head between pukes and told me how much he loves me.  I know this little boy was sent to me for a reason. I never knew I was capable of so much love for a person, but he has certainly taught me a lot about love in his short four years, I could not do without him.

Love you my Buddy, more than words!

cap gun from Dad. He loves it.

Grandma and Grandpa Stuart came to celebrate with us.
and gave him lots of legos. The whole family is loving them.
Binoculars from Mom

Pizza and Spicy juice were served. James' favorite.

He was very specific on the cupcakes. Green cupcakes with green and pink frosting. I tried.

check out those eye lashes

Hot Dog, Hot Dog, Hot Diggy Dog

One day, when Lauren was quite small, she keep asking me for a hot dog, I was surprised because I didn't know she knew that word.  I repeatably told her we didn't have any. She finally screamed and stomped and pulled me into the kitchen to point to the muffins on the counter.

"Oh! I said, you want a muffin???" ...holding the muffin out to her.

I got a very vigorous nod, and she snatched it up and said "hot dog."

At this point in time my dear little helpful Ellie who had been quietly observing, explained quite matter-of-factly "she thinks a muffin is a hot dog."

Not thinking too much about WHY that might be, I explained to Lauren several times, that the yummy thing she had eaten and was asking for another of, was NOT a hot dog, but in fact a muffin.

Several months later, it was like I was having de ja vue, when my dear Lauren started begging me for a hot dog again. I insisted we didn't have any, and had completely forgotten about the muffin situation until she once again dragged me into the kitchen and pointed at my freshly made cupcakes.

"Mmmmm Hot Dog please." She said very politely.

Ellie could not help laughing out loud, thinking it was quite the funniest thing. To this day, I have not been able to convince Lauren that muffins are muffins, and cupcakes are cupcakes. They are Hot Dogs. And neither James or Ellie has confessed to purposely confusing their poor little sister .....but I certainly suspect Ellie.

The funny thing is when Barry brought home two cases of quarter pound hot dogs from work, and our fridge was filled with hot dogs, Lauren had no trouble accepting that this pink tube of salty mystery meat was coincidentally called a hot dog as well.

Oh well. ;)

Threats Made Good

James is usually the biggest sweetheart in the whole world. Quick to save "I love you", snuggle, and gives hugs.
But lately, James has desperately wanted to play with my Ipad. I have seriously restricted his access, and he is none too pleased with me.

Today he was following me around the house begging to play with it, when he suddenly stopped, stood straight up, feet apart, and in a voice that could only command respect said.

"Mom!, if you don't let me play your Ipad, I will do THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

He thrust his hand deep in his pocket .................... and pulled out the lining

....and just let it hang there.

Oh my goodness, I tried soo hard not to laugh. :) Since James was small, I have expressed to him that I cannot stand untucked pockets, it simply drives me nuts.

I honestly had no idea that it would one day be used against me. ;)

I will say nothing on if I gave in after such a threat.

Made these the other day. Raspberry(made with fresh raspberries, hence the purpleness) White Chocolate Cheesecake Cookies. Taste like cheesecake. Mmmmmmm
