Flooding FUN

 Owen

Owen Russell and his name sake. I think they may be related.....Look at those expressions.

We've had a ton of snow this year, followed by rain and record warm temperatures. It's been crazy, it was 55 degrees today. School was cancelled for Lauren because of flooding. So like the smart people that we are, we decided to go on a drive and see what all the fuss was about....

We wanted to see if the creek had flooded on our land.
We drove up to our gate, put on our tall muck boots and went exploring.

and oh boy was it flooded!

Hey! There wasn't water THERE before!

IT's grown in width, Barry estimates, by about 30 feet!!!

Water covered our path we cleared out last spring.
WE decided following Daddy wasn't worth wet feet.
this is a angled branch the kid's like to play and climb on.  It was about 15 feet away from the creek. Not anymore.

The flood waters have done some new landscaping for us.

It really opened up the bank for us here. Knocked down and carried off a few trees and bushes.
 Just lovely :D

ON our walk back from exploring we heard all sorts of sirens.
WE decided to drive up the road a ways to check out the river. We didn't make it very far. The bridge had just washed away. I'm very glad that we weren't on it. We decided not to go that way after all. :D

THAT'S a creek! Well it WAS a creek and a bridge over a creek.

Sorry, I know it's hard to see. BUT it was CRAZZZY

WE decided we better make our way home..."by way of the ice cream parlor..."
WE had to be pretty creative. Lots of road closures and water on the road. Some were really bad. Totally washing the roads away. We saw another bridge about to go out. We decided not to cross it, and turned around.

This one wasn't too bad. We crossed it on our way into Buhl, I was glad it wasn't worse on the way back. The poor person in the grey Pontiac made it through, but then their car died. "Now children, that is why you shouldn't buy a Pontiac. No good in the water."

Hmm bet they have water in their house. This is what it looks like by our mailbox. So I haven't got the mail in days. I was lucky to get out alive last time I tried.

.....but, Hey we made it in the end. Priorities. :D
